Some history on hazelnuts

There were hazelnuts, filberts, in the mixed nuts we had for Christmas. Hazels are members of the genus Corylus. This genus is found throughout the northern hemisphere. A large portion of the world’s hazelnuts are grown in Turkey. Most of the hazelnuts grown in the United States are the product of Washington and, predominately, Oregon.
