Community garden arrives in Marienville

MARIENVILLE A community garden has been established in Marienville. The community garden is located near the library, on the eastern portion of where the Marienville Four Season Trail hub is located.

The garden is a joint effort between Jenks Township and the East Forest School with donations from the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and the Bridge Builders Community Foundation.

East Forest students and Jenks Township have volunteered their time to complete the initial installation of the community garden.

The future plan includes additional gardens and seating areas as well as a pavilion to be located above the garden area.

Residents are welcome to request a garden plot to plant and harvest produce for their own use. Other communal garden areas will grow berries, fruits and vegetables for harvest by any resident. Workdays will be established in the future for plot holders.

If you want to reserve a plot, please call East Forest School (814) 927-6688 or email darner@forestareaschools.

Volunteers to maintain the communal areas or donations to improve the area are also welcome and information can be obtained at the same email and phone number as above.
