Bobnar earns graduation honors

CLARION Kayce Bobnar, 23, of Cooksburg, May 2 received her Bachelor of Science degrees (with honors) dual majoring in psychology/social work and environmental geoscience at Clarion University.

She was a member of Phi Eta Sigma, the National Honors Society, and the dean's list.

She was an accomplished cross-country runner (5K-school record) and track & field runner (3200M-school record) at North Clarion High School. She earned a four-year college scholarship to Clarion University's Cross Country/Track & Field Team and placed 11th in the state at the PSAC Cross Country Championships at Edinboro earning her a spot on the 1st team PSAC All-Conference.

She also earned a spot in the Clarion University's all-time top five in the 10K in track & field and an 11th place finish at the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mansfield.

Bobnar was a scholar-athlete and received numerous awards devoted to the sport of running and participated in many racing events winning more than 40 medals. She worked in the psychology department during college and volunteered with Autumn Leaf Festival events.

Bobnar was a former volunteer and cashier at The Sawmill Center for the Arts. She won the "Young Volunteer of the Year" award from the Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation.

Bobnar played "Woodsy Owl" and "Smokey Bear" for Cook Forest State Park events. She is currently employed by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in Cook Forest.
