We hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and a happy start to the New Year and got to spend time with your families and loved ones.

We can’t believe it’s 2020 -- where did 2019 go? Time seems to be flying by fast and we are helping more and more of God’s children.

We have never turned away one worthy person in need of our help.

It is so sad to say but there are so many families out there without heat, electric, water or even somewhere to lay down their heads. We had two veterans we helped who were living out of their vehicles. At this time of the year it is too cold to live out of a vehicle.

We worked with other agencies in the area and now these veterans have a warm, safe place to lay their heads. We are sad knowing what these veterans sacrificed for us to live in this county.

Our thanks to all the veterans who protect us to make our country the land of the free. God bless all of you.

We are thankful to have been able to partner with ABATE again this year to help needy parents get presents for their children. We would like to thank Ellie Tolesz and Roxie Zanot for the hours put in handing out the presents.

We would also like to thank the Clarion Mall for the use of the space to hand out these gifts.

We will only be having one spaghetti dinner this year it will be held on Sept. 12 at the Wolf’s Den. So please mark your calendars. The money raised goes to help the needy in the community with their utility bills. Thank you to the Wolf’s Den for letting us have our dinners there.

We will be partnering with the Pizza Pub again this year. The pizza Pub donates 600 pepperoni pizzas yearly.

The date for the sales will be April 4.

The food bank will be held on Jan. 23; Feb. 27; March 26; April 23; May 28: June 25; July 23; Aug. 27; Sept. 24 and Oct. 22.

The dates for November and December will change due to the holidays. We will let you know closer to that time. We would like to thank all the volunteers that help with the food distribution.

If anyone would like to help with distributing the food, they can come to the Charitable Deeds building  at 260 High Point Road, Knox, Pa. 16232, on the dates listed above or if you would like to make a monetary donation to help with the cost of the food you can send to the above address and put in memo food pantry.

If you or someone you know that lives in Clarion County or Forest County needs help with food, please call 814-797-0286 and we can register them for food.

Garage sales

We will continue to have our monthly garage sales in 2020.

The dates are Jan. 16-18; Feb. 20-22; March 19-21; April 16-18; May 21-23; June 18-20; July 16-18; Aug. 20-22; Sept. 17-19; and Oct. 15-17.

We are always in need of stoves, refrigerators, washer and dryers, lift chairs etc. If anyone has items they would like to donate, please call 814-797-0286 leave a message and we will get back to you.

There are so many people we would like to thank for making these garage sales such a success.

You all know who you are – Charitable Deeds is not about one or two people. It is about the numerous people that gives their time day in and out.

Without our Charitable Deeds family, we would never be able to help the number of families we do.

We can only help one time every 12 months. Some of the stories we get from some of these families are so sad.

Some are too proud to accept help, for example: We helped a single mother with a young daughter when the husband left them. The mother works but with all her bills she was not able to give her daughter anything for Christmas.

The Christmas presents collected by ABATE helped make sure the daughter had a nice Christmas. We also helped with $200 to help with bills. We do not know who she is, this name was given to us anonymously and a friend took the presents to them.

These are the families we really like to help because they are so grateful.

God bless you all.n
