It was a discouraging time the people of Palestine, Israel, lived under regional governments, each important to please. Rome occupied this land of God's beloved people, with Roman taxes being collected, often unpredictably and ruthlessly by local Jewish collaborators and sent back to Rome.

When I first began preparing this article, realizing we are in the Easter season, I began to write an article referring to the final weeks of Jesus' earthly ministry.

One of the secrets to life, I believe is momentum the driving force that encourages me to improve and go forward. Within Christianity, this same concept is true. We must grow in the Lord. I Peters 2:2, "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby."

When I was growing up in the South, the season of Lent was not considered all that important, at least not in the church where I was raised.But you know, even then, we all knew that Lent had to do with making some kind of personal sacrifice for about seven weeks.

Just around the corner, sooner than we expect, Christmas will be upon us a glorious holiday for all. This is a time of celebration where we gather to enjoy family and friends and thank God for the blessings that he has bestowed on us throughout the year.
