Local couple dies in Ohio crash

GIRARD CITY, Ohio -- A Lucinda man and woman were fatally injured in a motorcycle crash June 16 in Girard City, Ohio, reports the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Donald Snyder, 71, was driving a 1992 Honda Goldwing tricycle on Interstate 80 in the middle lane of the road at about noon when he swerved his vehicle to avoid debris on the road, the Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The tricycle overturned into the left lane of the road, ejecting Snyder and his passenger, Christina Borton, 55, the Highway Patrol said.

A semi-truck in the left lane struck Borton and Snyder and the tricycle, according to the Highway Patrol.

Borton was pronounced dead at the scene, and Snyder died of his injuries at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, the Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the semi-truck wasn't injured, the Highway Patrol said.

Snyder and Borton were co-owners of Chris and Red's Discount Variety in Lucinda. Snyder also owned Midway Auction Barn and was part owner of S&W Autobody, where he spent most of his life as a mechanic.

Deceased's business and home burglarized

KNOX TWP. Tpr. Ethan Rowe reports someone forced their way into Chris and Red's Variety Store along State Route 66 in Paint Township sometime between June 16 and 21.

Inside the store, the actor(s) took two hunting rifles and the drawer from the cash register.

The actor(s) then went to Donald "Red" Snyder's home and forced their way in into the house along Old Tipple Road.

Inside the home, the actor(s) took several items.

Fatal ATV crash

MADISON TWP. Tpr. Luke Wilson of the state police barracks at Kittanning reports a 76-year-old Templeton man died in a 12:43 p.m. June 18 all-terrain-vehicle crash along Mahoning Road in Madison Township, Armstrong County.

Deceased is William R. Bowser.

Bowser was operating a Yamaha Grizzly ATV while not wearing a helmet when the frame of the ATV broke, causing the vehicle to overturn several times. Bowser was ejected from the vehicle and struck the asphalt road surface several times.

Wilson was transported via medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area hospital where he later died due to his injuries.

Car rolls over

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Patrick Berggren reports Michael A. Little, 18, North Aurora, Ill., suffered suspected minor injuries at 8:55 a.m. June 19 along eastbound Interstate 80 in Clarion Township when he lost control of his 2008 Nissan Altima and struck an embankment. The car rolled completely over one time.

Little was not wearing a seat belt. He was cited for a traffic law violation. Clarion Hospital EMS and Corsica Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Drug overdose

WASHINGTON TWP. State police at Marienville report troopers responded to a suspected drug overdose at 9:29 a.m. June 20 along State Route 208 in Washington Township. Troopers on the scene administered two doses of Narcan. The person was transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment. Shippenville/Elk Township Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

DUIs alleged

LIMESTONE TWP. Tpr. Joshua McGinnis reports a 45-year-old Fairmount City woman faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:09 a.m. June 13 along State Route 66 in Limestone Township.

A Limestone Township resident notified police a woman had arrived at her home in a white Ford Explorer and then went to a neighbor's house and was shouting and pounding on the door.

State police arrived at the scene and encountered the woman who was allegedly intoxicated.

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Nash Rupp of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 39-year-old Youngsville man faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at 11:43 p.m. June 20 along State Route 66 in Farmington Township after he was stopped for a traffic law violation.

Failure to register

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Katherine Berggren reports a known suspect faces charges of failing to update their address as required by Megan's Law at 8 a.m. June 1 in Clarion Township. The investigation is ongoing.

Missing handgun

MILLCREEK TWP. Tpr. Dylan Jarrett reports an ongoing investigation into a handgun reported missing at noon June 5 from a location along Clover Lane in Millcreek Township. No further information was released.

Theft investigation

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports an ongoing investigation into the theft of a Social Security card, an insurance card, and approximately $173 in cash sometime between 6 and 8 p.m. June 9 at an unidentified Clarion Township location along Mayfield Road.

The victims are two 18-year-old women, a 10-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman, all of Clarion.

Driver injured

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Patrick Berggren reports Ashley N. Munger, 22, White Lake, Mich., suffered suspected serious injuries at 9:35 a.m. June 17 along eastbound Interstate 80 in Clarion Township when she swerved her 2007 Buick Lucerne to avoid a deer on the road way.

Munger lost control of the car and struck an embankment. The car rolled over.

Munger was wearing a seat belt. Clarion Hospital EMS and Clarion Fire and Hose No. 1 assisted at the scene.

Car hits debris

PAINT TWP. Tpr. Kevin Doverspike Jr. reports Nicole L. Mak, 29, and her passenger, Christine L. Siegel, 27, both of Rillton, escaped injury at 1:12 p.m. June 17 along Paint Boulevard in Paint Township when their 2015 Subaru Impreza struck tire debris on the roadway.

The tire debris came a passing Doge truck. The driver of the truck did not stop. Mak's vehicle was disabled.

Two people cited

STRATTANVILLE Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports two 26-year-old women one from Knox and one from Strattanville face charges of harassment at 6:50 p.m. June 9 in Strattanville after they were allegedly involved in an altercation with each other.

Disorderly conduct

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Ryan Drayer reports a 43-year-old Leeper man faces charges of disorderly conduct a 3:45 p.m. May 1 at Walmart in Monroe Township. The victim is a 36-year-old Clarion woman. The news release was posted June 18.

Woman cited

WASHINGTON TWP. Tpr. Zachery Weaver of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 59-year-old North Myrtle Beach, N.C., faces charges of harassment at 11:32 p.m. June 18 along State Route 208in Washington Township after she allegedly subjected a 66-year-old North Myrtle Beach, N.C., man to physical contact during an argument.

PFA violation

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Jacob Snyder of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 42-year-old Vowinckel man faces charges of violating a protection from abuse order at various times between June 8 and 10 along Fulmer Drive in Farmington Township.

Three people cited

JENKS TWP. Tpr. Cheyenne Smith of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 26-year-old man and a 65-year-old man, both of Marienville, and a 41-year-old Leeper woman all face charges of harassment at 12:57 a.m. June 13 in the parking lot of Ray's Hot Spot in Jenks Township, Forest County, after they allegedly were involved in an altercation with each other.
