Fatal crash

TOBY TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports a 17-year-old Rimersburg woman died in a 7:01 a.m. June 24 one-vehicle crash along Curllsville Road in Toby Township that also left a 19-year-old Shippenville man injured.

Police said the 17-year-old woman was driving her 2012 Toyota Yaris when the car went off the road, struck a tree and overturned.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A passenger in the vehicle, Maxwell Thompson, 19, of Shippenville, received minor injuries in the crash but refused transport to the hospital.

The Rimersburg Volunteer Fire Department and Southern Clarion Ambulance also responded to the scene.

The investigation of the crash is ongoing. Police did not report if the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts.

Sexual assault

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports a 30-year-old New Bethlehem woman told police around 4:30 a.m. June 28 she was sexually assaulted by a relative multiple times between January of 1994 and January of 2009.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information was released.

Theft from mailbox

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Chandra Baughman reports someone took two packages from a mailbox sometime between June 20 and 23 along Staab Road in Clarion Township.

The packages, intended for a 34-year-old Strattanville woman, contained a hooded sweatshirt displaying images of wolves valued at $20; an electronic cigarette roller valued at $29; and a leather charm friendship bracelet valued at $5.

DUIs alleged

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports a 44-year-old McDonald man faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:23 a.m. June 26 along State Route 66 in Clarion Township.

LIMESTONE TWP. Tpr. Jacob Beers reports a 40-year-old Mayport woman faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at 3:04 a.m. June 28 along Kerr and Kemmer roads in Limestone Township after she was stopped for several traffic law violations.

Two incidents in two days

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Jeffrey Benson of the state police barracks at Marienville reports multiple citations were issued at a Farmington Township residence over the span of two days.

At 8:20 p.m. June 27 along Maple Drive and Leaf Circle, Chester Stuckey Sr., 75, Leeper, Carmella Pisciuneri, 62 Leeper and Sarah Pisciuneri, 34, Leeper, were all cited for criminal trespass and harassment with the victims listed as Chester Stuckey Sr. and a 65-year-old Leeper man.

At 9:41 a.m. June 28 at the same location, Curt Stuckey, 53, was cited for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct with the victim listed as Sarah Pisciuneri, 34, but listed in the second report as being from Clarion.

No details of the incidents were provided.

Men face charges in fight

MADISON TWP. Tpr. Chandra Baughman reports a 20-year-old Rimersburg man and a 26-year-old New Bethlehem man face charges following a 6:15 June 14 incident along Monterey Road in Madison Township during the two men were involved in an altercation.

Both men were transported via ambulance to Clarion Hospital for their injuries.

BB-gun stolen

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Brandon Collett of the state police barracks at Marienville reports someone forced their way into a seasonal residence sometime between June 19 and 28 along Miola Road in Farmington Township and took a BB-gun valued at $50.

The actor(s) also caused $200 in damage to a door.

The victim is a 58-year-old Pittsburgh man.

Clarion man assaulted

ALLEGHENY TWP. Tpr. Mohamed Miloua of the state police barracks at Butler reports a 27-year-old Clarion man was one of two victims assaulted by a 17-year-old Meadville male at 1:19 p.m. June 7 at Mid Atlantic Services in Allegheny Township, Butler County. The other reported victim is a 54-year-old Eau Claire man.

Theft reported

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Dylan Jarrett reports an ongoing investigation of a reported theft sometime between March 1 and May 6 along Water Run Road in Monroe Township. The victim is an 83-year-old Clarion woman.

Extortion investigation reported

LICKING TWP. Tpr. Stephanie Graham reports an ongoing investigation of the reported attempted extortion of a 34-year-old Sligo man at 8 a.m. June 22 along Canoe Ripple Road in Licking Township. The suspect is unknown No further information was released.

Camper damaged

LICKING TWP. Tpr. Chandra Baughman reports an ongoing investigation of a 4:31 p.m. June 22 incident along State Route 368 in Licking Township during which a camper door was damaged.

The victim is a 25-year-old Rimersburg man. The suspect is a 51-year-old Clarion woman.

Distracted driver hits ditch

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Chandra Baughman reports Brandt D. Young, 23, Shippenville, and his passenger, Bradley R. Elder, 21, Shippenville, escaped injury at 7:19 p.m. June 22 along State Route 68 near Kane Drive in Monroe Township when Young was distracted while driving his 2005 Chrysler Sebring.

Young swerved to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle in front of him and struck a ditch.

The car became airborne and came to rest in the ditch.

The vehicle's airbags deployed as a result of the crash.

Shippenville/Elk Township Ambulance Service and mark's Towing responded to the scene.

Young and Elder were not wearing seat belts. Young was cited for a traffic law violation.

Deer-related crashes

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports Tracey L. Hodges, 55, Landenberg, and her passenger, Abby Hodges, 18, Landenberg, escaped serious injury at 2:15 p.m. June 24 along westbound Interstate 80 in Clarion Township when their 2020 Toyota Camry struck a deer on the roadway.

Tracey Hodges suffered minor injuries and was transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment.

Clarion Hospital EMS, Clarion Fire and Hose Co. No. 1 and Mark's Auto assisted at the scene.

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Jeremy Bloom of the state police barracks at Marienville reports Jessica L. Bauer, 46, Marienville, suffered unspecified injuries at 10:27 a.m. June 25 along State Route 66 near Kahle Drive in Farmington Township when her 2016 Chevrolet Equinox struck a deer on the roadway.

Bauer was wearing a seat belt. She was transported to DuBois Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

WEST FRANKLIN TWP. Tpr. Luke Wilson of the state police barracks at Kittanning reports Eugene R. Stivason, 62, Rimersburg, escaped injury at 3:32 p.m. June 27 along Worthington Slate Lick Road in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County, when he swerved his 2007 Toyota Yaris to avoid a deer o the roadway.

The car then struck an embankment and rolled over one time.

Stivason was wearing a seat belt. The car was towed from the scene.

Two-vehicle crash

BEAVER TWP. Tpr. Patrick Berggren reports no one was injured in an 8:40 a.m. June 20 two-vehicle crash along State Route 338 in Beaver Township.

Victor E. Himes, 35, Hawthorn, operating a northbound 2008 Jeep Wrangler, allegedly crossed the center line and struck a "towed unit" behind a 2008 GMC Sierra operated by Austin J. Bisbee, 27, Union City.

Both drivers and their passengers were wearing seat belts. Himes was cited for a traffic law violation.

Knox Area Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

Mailbox incident

KNOX BOROUGH Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports he responded to an 11:30 p.m. June 12 incident along Mendenhall Avenue in Knox Borough during which a homeowner reported hearing a loud bang.

The man looked out his window and saw his mailbox was had been knocked over and the lid was off.

The man said he did not see what happened to the mailbox and there were no witnesses or clues.

The man declined to seek any prosecution and was able to fix his mailbox was sitting it back up.

One-vehicle crash

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Joshua McGinnis reports Michael F. Pompa, 26, Pittsburgh, escaped injury at 4:45 p.m. June 22 along westbound Interstate 80 at mile marker 64 in Clarion Township when he lost control of his 2015 Subaru Forester and struck an embankment.

Pompa was wearing a seat belt. He was cited for a traffic law violation.

Southern Clarion County Ambulance Service and Leadbetter Towing assisted at the scene.

Rear-end collision

PAINT TWP. Tpr. Tate Allison reports three people were injured in an 11:22 a.m. June 25 two-vehicle collision along U.S. Route 322 along Battery House in Paint Township.

Shawn J. Basham, 49, Oil City, stopped his 2012 Chevrolet Malibu to turn left into Battery House and was struck from behind by a 2009 Nissan Cube operated by Christian R. Burgdorfer, 21, Shippenville.

Burgdorfer, Basham and Burgdorfer's passenger, Kelsey L. Burgdorfer, 19, Shippenville all were wearing seat belts and all suffered unspecified injuries.

All were transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment.

Christian Burgdorfer was cited for a traffic law violation.

Trespassing incident reported

LIMESTONE TWP. Tpr. Joshua McGinnis reports he responded to a reported incident of trespassing at 12:32 p.m. June 26 along Forest Drive in Limestone Township. The victim, a 57-year-old Summerville man, declined to press charges.

Details of 6-vehicle crash posted

SCRUBGRASS TWP. State police have posted the details of a chain-reaction June 22 eight-vehicle crash along eastbound Interstate 80 that closed the lanes for several hours.

Tpr. Joshua McGinnis reports Christopher J. Muth, 36, Sykesville, lost control of his 2004 Hyundai Elantra on the wet road surface on the Emlenton Bridge over the Allegheny River at 5:40 p.m. June 22.

Muth's car spun around, striking both sides of the bridge and coming to a stop on the bridge.

Emlenton volunteer fire fighters were able to safely push the car from the bridge. Muth was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. He was cited for a traffic law violation.

Tpr. Marc Hunsberger reports Dhan S. Tamang, 31, Pataskala, Ohio, operating a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer, was stopped in the left lane due to the Muth crash and was struck from behind by a 2003 Chevrolet Venture operated by Melissa L. Hudson, 39, Greenville.

Hudson and her passenger, David W. Myers, 52, Greenville, were wearing seat belts and suffered unspecified injuries. Both were transported by Shippenville/Elk Township Ambulance Service to Clarion Hospital for treatment.

Tamang was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Tpr. Tate Allison reports at approximately 6:56 p.m., Robert A. Clevenger, 30, Oklahoma City, Okla., operating a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer, rounded the bend approaching the previous crash scenes and attempted to slow his vehicle.

The rig slid on the wet road surface and struck the rend of a guide rail and then came to rest against the guide rail.

Sergey Y. Sadchikov, 42, Fairview, operating a 1996 Freightliner tractor-trailer, saw Clevenger's rig slowing down and attempted to slow his own truck.

Sadchikov's rig slid sideways and struck the trailer of the Clevenger rig with Sadchikov's tractor-trailer jack-knifing.

George C. Stroup, 47, Canon City, Col., operating a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer, then struck the trailer of the Sadchikov rig.

Clevenger, Sadchikov and Stroup were wearing seat belts and were not injured. Clevenger and Sadchikov were cited for traffic law violations.

New troopers assigned

HARRISBURG Col. Robert Evanchick, commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police, announced last week 99cadets graduated from the State Police Academy in Hershey and have been assigned to troops across the commonwealth.

The men and women represent the 159th graduating cadet class.

Assigned to the Clarion barracks of Troop C are Leopold R. Cleveland IV, Stephen Galmarini and Brian R. Tanner.

Clarion County native and former Clarion County Deputy Sheriff Alyssa M. Henry also graduated with the class and is assigned to Troop C. Lewis Run barracks.
