Woman assaulted and abandoned

PAINT TWP. Tpr. Christopher Smith of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 24-year-old Marienville woman was allegedly assaulted and then abandoned along the road by a 31-year-old Marienville man.

Bryan Barto, 31, Marienville, was arrested in the case, arraigned by District Judge Timothy Scholl and placed in the Clarion County Jail in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bail.

The victim arrived at the Marienville state police barracks at 2:55 p.m. Feb. 14 to report she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, identified as Barto.

The investigation determined the victim and Barto were in a relationship and having "issues."

The couple allegedly argued as they traveled in the Clarion area before Barto turned from State Route 66 onto Breniman Road in Paint Township.

Barto allegedly stopped his 1997 Chevrolet S-10 truck and struck the female victim in her face, mainly in her left eye.

According to the police report, the victim "found herself standing along Breniman Road," and accused Barto of driving off and leaving her there.

Barto also allegedly was to be held in jail on a state parole detainer.

The investigation is ongoing.

Indecent assault

STRATTANVILLE Tpr. Katherine Berggren reports an ongoing investigation of alleged indecent assault (inappropriate touching) by an 11-year-old child on a 3-year-old child Jan. 24 in Strattanville.

DUIs alleged

SHIPPENVILLE Tpr. Nicholas Gray reports a 55-year-old Duncan, S.C., woman faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs at 3:06 a.m. Feb. 11 along Railroad Street in Shippenville after she was stopped for multiple traffic law violations.

WASHINGTON TWP. Tpr. Tyler Lauer reports a 26-year-old Vowinckel man faces charges of DUI at 7:20 p.m. Feb. 7 along State Route 208 in Washington Township after he crashed his vehicle just east of Stitzinger Road. The investigation is ongoing.

Car hits deer

MADISON TWP. Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports Jessica A. Brink, 25, East Brady, and her 3-year-old male passenger escaped injury at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 along State Route 68 in Madison Township when their 2014 Subaru Impreza struck a deer on the roadway.

Brink and her passenger were wearing safety restraints. The vehicle was disabled.

Southern Clarion County Regional police, Rimersburg Hose Co. and Cornman Towing assisted at the scene.

ATVs stolen

GREEN TWP. Tpr. Cheyenne Smith of the state police barracks at Marienville reports someone entered a camp shed sometime between Feb. 8 and 11 along Big 6 Road in Green Township, Forest County, and took a green 2006 Polaris Sportsman 800 and a beige and camouflage 2019 Yamaha Kodiak YFM 450 all-terrain-vehicle.

The victims are an 81-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman, both from McMurray.
