Firearms violation

PAINT TWP. Tpr. Dylan Jarrett reports an ongoing investigation of a firearms law violation at noon June 13 at a Paint Township location.

DUIs alleged

RICHLAND TWP. Tpr. Jacob Beers reports a 34-year-old Butler man faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at 5:41 p.m. Nov. 28 along eastbound Interstate 80 in Richland Township after he was stopped for allegedly erratic driving.

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Jacob Snyder of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 39-year-old Leeper woman faces charges of DUI at 3:55 p.m. Nov. 27 in a Leeper parking lot after she was found to be in her running vehicle while intoxicated.

Prison fire

JENKS TWP. Tpr. Kathleen Watters of the state police barracks at Marienville reports set fire to his cell after tying up his cellmate at SCI Forest in Marienville.

Watters, a state police fire marshal, said an inmate caused an electrical outlet to ignite paper and cloth at about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19. The fire marshal said the inmate set the fire after he tied his 24-year-old cellmate's hands and feet.

The fire, which created large amounts of smoke, was quickly put out.

Both inmates and several corrections officers were treated for smoke inhalation and released.

The inmate who was tied up didn't sustain significant injuries. Damages were estimated at $1,000.

Jeep hits deer

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Patrick S. Berggren reports William M. Gathers, 60, Sligo, escaped injury at 5:34 a.m. Nov. 27 along State Route 68 in Monroe Township when his 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a deer on the roadway. Gathers was wearing a seat belt.
