Motorcyclist injured

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Stephen Galmarini Javen R. Winkleman, 23, Clarion, operating 2019 Yamaha motorcycle, suffered suspected serious injuries at 1:10 p.m. Aug. 5 along U.S. Route 322 near the former Sealy Mattress factory in Clarion Township when his motorcycle struck the rear of a tractor-trailer operated by Curtis W. Deschambeau, 58, of Stoneboro.

Deschambeau was turning his 2003 Freightliner left into the parking lot when Winkleman's motorcycle struck the rear wheels of the trailer.

Deschambeau was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Winkleman was wearing a helmet. He was flown via medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Girl injured in golf cart crash

SLIGO Tpr. Leopold Cleveland reports a 12-year-old Sligo girl suffered unspecified injuries at 3:25 p.m. Aug. 6 at the intersection of State Route 58 and Front Street in Sligo when the golf cart on which was a passenger struck at a vehicle.

Elsie J. Ritts, 78, Sligo, was driving a 1996 Yamaha G16 golf cart along Main Street and when she came to Front Street, stopped the cart at a stop sign but then failed to yield the right of way to a passing 2008 Buick Lacrosse operated by Michael Bellsfield, 40 Clarion.

Bellsfield was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Ritts and her two passengers, the injured 12-year-old and an 8-year-old Sligo girl, were using any safety restraints or gear.

Ritts and the 8-year-old were not injured.

The 12-year-old girl was flown via medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Ritts was cited for a traffic law violation.

Side-by-side crash injures two

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Brandon Collett of the state police barracks at Marienville report two people were injured in a 3:52 p.m. Aug. 9 crash of a side-by-side recreational vehicle along Walley Run Road in Farmington Township.

Benjamin N. Gilbert, 33, Leeper, lost control of his 2003 Yamaha Raptor and struck an embankment.

The vehicle rolled over, ejecting Gilbert and his 16-year-old female passenger from Endeavor.

Gilbert was flown via medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The passenger was transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing safety equipment or restraints.

Gilbert was cited for a traffic law violation

Farmington Volunteer Fire Department and Clarion Hospital EMS assisted at the scene.

Drug possession

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Joshua McGinnis reports a 33-year-old Strattanville woman faces charges of possession of a controlled substance at 7:36 p.m. Aug. 7 in Clarion Township.

State police were summoned to the home of a 61-year-old Clarion woman who reported the suspect would not leave her home. Police arrived at the scene and removed the suspect from the home.

While detained, the suspect allegedly told police she had "weed" in her purse. Police allegedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the woman's purse.

Teen driver crashes car into garage

BEAVER TWP. Tpr. Chandra Baughman reports a 16-year-old male driver from Knox and his 15-year-old male passenger, also from Knox, escaped injury in an 11:15 a.m. Aug. 6 one-vehicle crash along State Route 338 east of the village of Monroe in Beaver Township.

The teen allegedly lost control of his 2008 Ford Ranger truck, over-steered in an attempt to regain control of the vehicle, went off the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The truck then struck the corner of a concrete block garage, causing significant damage to the building. The truck was disabled and towed from the scene by O'Neil's Towing. The airbags in the vehicle deployed and both occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts.

The driver was cited for a traffic law violation.

Sign stolen

HIGHLAND TWP. Tpr. Leopold Cleveland reports someone took a metal sign reading "Horse Rides" sometime between Aug. 7 and 8 along Scott Lane in Highland Township. The four-feet by eight-feet sign is valued at $800. The victim is Cook Forest Scenic Trail Rides.

Teen driver crashes car into mailbox

SLIGO Tpr. Stephen Galmarini reports a 16-year-old male driver from St. Louis, Mo., and his two 16-year-old female passengers from Rimersburg and Sligo escaped injury at 7:01 p.m. Aug. 7 along Madison Street in Sligo when the driver lost control of his 2017 Honda Civic and struck a mailbox.

All occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts. The driver was cited for a traffic law violation.

PFA violation

FOXBURG Tpr. Leopold Cleveland reports a male suspect faces charges of violating a protection from abuse order at 9:37 p.m. July 28 in Foxburg when he allegedly used a third-party individual to contact a female victim.

Attempted theft

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Lee Bunyak of the state police barracks at Marienville reports an unknown suspected used the identity of a 40-year-old Lucinda woman between July 1 and 29 to attempt to receive unemployment benefits and to acquire a credit card. The investigation is ongoing.

ATV stolen

REDBANK TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports someone took a 2004 green Suzuki Eiger all-terrain-vehicle from the residence of a 39-year-old Fairmount City man sometime between 2 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 3 along Sherman Heights in Redbank Township.

Animal cruelty

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Brian Tanner reports a 78-year-old Clarion woman faces charges of animal cruelty at 7 p.m. Aug. 4 along Mays Road in Clarion Township.

The charges are based on state police responding to a complaint which allegedly included a video of the unspecified cruelty.

Couple cited

KNOX TWP. Tpr. Jacob Knight reports a 34-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both of Lucinda, face charges of harassment at 11:19 p.m. Aug. 4 along State Route 66 in Knox Township after they allegedly were involved in an altercation with each other.

Public drunkenness

MARIENVILLE Tpr. Jeremy Bloom of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 58-year-old Shippenville ma faces charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct at 9:45 p.m. Aug. 6 along South Forest Street at Cypress Street in Marienville, Jenks Township, Forest County.

Liquor law violation

EMLENTON The state police bureau of liquor law enforcement reports a complaint of illegal liquor sales during the COVID-19 emergency in March of 2020 in Emlenton, Clarion County, was investigated and found to be unsubstantiated.
