Man dies from fire injuries

PORTER TWP. State police fire marshal Kathleen Watters reports a 70-year-old New Bethlehem-area man suffered severe burns to the majority of his body around 7:30 p.m. March 8 along Smithland Road in Porter Township.

The man later died from those injuries.

The man was burning trash when the fire spread to nearby leaves. The victim's clothes and boots were accidently ignited as he tried to extinguished fire.

Approximately one-quarter acre of ground debris was burned.

The victim was flown via medical helicopter to UPMC Mercy where he later passed away..

Runaway located

KNOX BOROUGH TPR. Nicholas Gray reports a 16-year-ol male juvenile who was reported as a runaway around 10:50 p.m. March 9 in Knox Borough was located as of 10 a.m. March 10.

One-vehicle crash

REDBANK TWP. Tpr. Ryan Wilson reports Shannon M. Best, 24, Fairmount City, escaped injury at 2 a.m. March 7 along Town Run Road in Redbank Township when she lost control of her 2006 Buick Lucerne and struck an embankment and a roadside guide rail.

Best was wearing a seat belt. She was cited for a traffic law violation.

Vehicle hits tree

LIMESTONE TWP. Tpr, Evan Cyphert reports James E. Murray, 39, Summerville, escaped injury at 1:30 a.m. March 8 along Aaron Road in Limestone Township when he lost control of his 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander and struck a tree.

Murray was wearing a seat belt. He was cited for a traffic law violation.

Drugs, weapons violations

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports a 42-year-old Palmyra, Mo., man face various charges following an 8:45 p.m. March 7 traffic stop along Holiday Inn Road in Monroe Township.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. During the stop, police allegedly found several items of drug paraphernalia, a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a loaded firearm with the serial number obliterated.

The suspect also faces charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

The suspect was arrested, arraigned and placed in the Clarion County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bond.

Man punches windshield

KNOX BOROUGH Tpr. Jacob Knight reports a 56-year-old Shippenville man faces charges of criminal mischief at 8:12 p.m. March 8 along East Penn Avenue in Knox Borough after he allegedly punched and smashed a vehicle windshield. The victim is a 39-year-old Knox woman.

Child endangerment investigation

SALEM TWP. Tpr. Joshua McGinnis reports an investigation into the alleged endangerment of a child's welfare at 7 a.m. Feb. 28 along State Route 208 in Salem Township. No further information was released.

Cruelty to animals

SALEM TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports an ongoing investigation into alleged animal cruelty March 10 along Side Lane in Salem Township.

The alleged incident occurred between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. when the suspect clipped a tether to the genitals of a male dog, cutting off the blood circulation to the affected area.

The dog was rescued and transported from the scene for medical attention.

Woman harassed, yard damaged

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Nicholas Schmader of the state police barracks at Marienville reports an unknown individual slowed his vehicle and shouted racial slurs at a 42-year-old Tionesta-area woman at 8:32 p.m. March 6 along State Route 36 in Washington Township.

The vehicle sped away from the scene, however, at a later time that same evening, the unknown vehicle returned and traveled through the victim's driveway and yard, causing damage.

The vehicle was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Fencing removed

WASHINGTON TWP. Tpr. Cheyenne Smith of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 63-year-old Tionesta-area woman told police she purchased property along State Route 36 in Washington Township from an Amish man in December of 2019.

The woman told police the Amish man told her at the time of the sale everything on the lane went with the property.

The woman told police on Feb. 8 a relative of the Amish man cane to the property and took eight to ten sections of corral fencing valued at $960.

Harassing messages

WASHINGTON TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports a 32-year-old Fryburg man faces charges of harassment at various times between Sept. 1, 2019, and Feb. 25, 2020, in Washington Township after he allegedly sent multiple text messages to a 28-year-old Marble woman in which he called her foul names and directed foul language at the victim.

Counterfeit cash

KANE Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports a 35-year-old Clarion man told police he sold speakers to a man in Kane and received counterfeit money as payment. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact state police at 814-226-1710.

Two-vehicle crash

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Nicholas Schmader of the state police barracks at Marienville reports no one was injured in a 12:22 p.m. March 8 two-vehicle crash along State Route 36 ay Breezemont Drive in Farmington Township.

Michael J. Grisnik, 58, New Brighton, operating a northbound 2014 Ford F-150 XLT truck, allegedly turned left from State Route 36 to enter onto Miola Road and into the path of a southbound 2008 Kia Sportage operated by Candice Slaughter, 39, Greenwood Lake, N.Y., and the vehicles collided.

Grisnik, his passenger, and Slaughter were all wearing seat belts.

Both vehicles were disabled. Grisnik was cited for a traffic law violation.
