Firearms violation

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports a known suspect who is banned from possessing a firearm, allegedly attempted to purchase a .22-caliber rifle at 7:52 p.m. July 6 at Walmart. The investigation is ongoing.

PFA violation

RICHLAND TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports an ongoing investigation into an alleged violation of a protection from abuse order at 7:30 a.m. Jun 30 along State Route 58 in Richland Township. The victim is a 7-year-old Parker girl.

Car hits buggy

SALEM TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports no one was injured when a car struck an Amish buggy at 6:06 p.m. Oct. 5 along State Route 208 in Salem Township.

Walter G. Ritts, 89, Knox, operating an eastbound 2015 Ford Mustang, crested a slight hill and was unable to stop or avoid an eastbound buggy operated by Sam E. Byler, 33, Knox.

The car struck the rear of the buggy. The Mustang sustained minor front end damage. The buggy was rendered inoperable as its left rear wheel was knocked off the buggy.

Ritts was wearing a seat belt. Byler and his passenger, Barbara S. Byler, 29, Knox, were not using safety restraints.

Ritts was cited for a traffic law violation.

Knox Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Car hits cow

MADISON TWP. -- A crash involving a cow occurred Oct. 3 in Madison Township, Clarion-based state police report.

Justin Finland, 31, of Sligo, was driving his vehicle on State Route 861 at about midnight when his vehicle struck a cow that was crossing the road, police said.

Police said Finland was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured.
