Death investigation

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Joshua Bauer reports an ongoing investigation of a 57-year-old Clarion man's death sometime between 7 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Jan. 15 in Clarion Township. The incident has initially been listed as a suicide.

Three fight over cookies and chips

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports a 17-year-old male, an 18-year-old female and a 25-year-old male, all of Clarion, face charges of harassment at 9:03 p.m. Jan. 12 along Dunkle Lane in Clarion Township.

Police were dispatched to the scene for a reported disturbance.

Police determined a known individual ate cookies and chips that were not his.

The snack eater and the rightful food owner engaged in a verbal altercation about the consumption of the snacks.

The two could not settle their differences and the situation escalated into a physical altercation.

Shortly thereafter, a third party became involved in the physical altercation.

Missing firearm

BEAVER TWP. Tpr. John Dubovi reports a Smith and Wesson .40-caliber handgun was reported missing from a tractor-trailer truck after it crashed at 10 p.m. Dec. 23, 2019, along Interstate 80 in Beaver Township. The handgun is valued at $400.

Fugitives arrested

EAST BRADY Tpr. Tate Allison reports Donald Jay Anthony of East Brady was taken into custody at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 15 along Kelly's Way in East Brady on an outstanding arrest warrant from Westmoreland County. Anthony was placed in the Clarion County Jail to await extradition.

BEAVER TWP. -- Tpr. Tate Allison reports James Walter Reeseman of Rimersburg was taken into custody at 12:23 p.m. Jan. 16 along State Route 208 in Beaver Township on an outstanding arrest warrant from Jefferson County. Reeseman was placed in the Clarion County Jail to await extradition.

Theft from vehicle

PAINT TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports an unknown suspect took unspecified items from a vehicle sometime between 3 and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 along U.S. Route 322 in Paint Township. The victims are a 19-year-old woman and a 51-year-old woman, both of Knox.

DUI alleged

WASHINGTON TWP. Tpr. Lee Bunyak reports a 40-year-old Leeper man faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at 12:15 a.m. Jan. 18 along State Route 208 in Washington Township after he was stopped for a traffic law violation.

Teen crashes car

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Nash Rupp reports a 17-year-old male driver from Vowinckel escaped injury at 3:08 p.m. Jan. 16 along State Route 36 near North Clarion High School in Farmington Township when he lost control of his 2005 Honda Civic and struck a utility pole.

The driver was wearing a seat belt and was cited for a traffic law violation.

Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department and Snyder's Towing assisted at the scene.

Sligo couple charged in fight

PINEY TWP. Tpr. Kevin Doverspike Jr. reports a Sligo man and woman, both age 56, face charges of simple assault at 10:10 p.m. Jan. 13 along Huckleberry Ridge Road in Piney Township.

Brian Ochs and Laura Anthony were both arrested, arraigned and placed in the Clarion County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bond.

Ochs and Anthony allegedly were involved in an argument that turned physical as Anthony was moving her belongings out of the couple's home.

Ochs allegedly kicked Anthony in the ribs her to fall and strike her head on a hard object. The fall caused a cut to Anthony's head.

Anthony told police Ochs struck her in the face multiple times.

Ochs told police Anthony struck him in the face several times and kicked him in the leg and groin area.

Anthony was transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Four-vehicle crash

BEAVER TWP. Tpr. Timothy Reilly reports three people were injured in a 6:46 p.m. Jan. 16 four-vehicle crash along westbound Interstate 80 in Beaver Township.

James D. McGarvey, 18, Emlenton, lost control of his 1999 Dodge Ram truck and began to slide sideways on the bridge surface.

Dhan K. Pradhan, 43, Cleveland, Ohio, traveling behind McGarvey in a 2016 Nissan van, was unable to avoid McGarvey's truck and struck the driver's side door of the pick-up.

That crash pushed McGarvey's truck into a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban operated by Melissa C. Fulton, 40, Knox.

Jason Matlack, 36, Olmstead Falls, Ohio, operating a 2016 International Harvester truck, attempted to avoid the crash but was struck by Pradhan's van.

McGarvey's pick-up went off the roadway and into a ditch.

Phadhan's van stopped along the berm after clearing the bridge.

Fulton and Matlack stopped their vehicles in a safe area.

McGarvey's and Pradhan's vehicles were disabled and towed from the scene.

Fulton's and Matlack's vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

All drivers and their passengers were wearing seat belts.

McGarvey and Pradhan, and Pradhan's passenger, suffered unspecified injuries.

McGarvey and Pradhan were cited for traffic law violations.

Crash injures one

PAINT TWP. Tpr. Kevin Doverspike Jr. reports one person was injured in a 5:14 p.m. Jan. 14 two-vehicle crash along U.S. Route 322 near Kiser-Wagner Road in Paint Township.

Tamera Fitzsimmons, 39, Shippenville, driving a Ford Explorer, was stopped for a vehicle turning left when Sharon Weaver-Floyd, 54, of Clarion, driving a Fiat 500, failed to stop and collided with the back of Fitzsimmons' vehicle.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Fitzsimons suffered a suspected minor injury.

Weaver-Floyd was cited for a traffic law violation.

Shippenville-Elk Township Volunteer Fire Department, Shippenville Ambulance Service and Mark's Towing assisted at the scene.

Two-vehicle crash

TOBY TWP. Tpr. Ryan Wilson reports one person was injured in a 1:04 p.m. Jan. 16 two-vehicle crash along State Route 68 in Toby Township.

David S. Shattuck, 46, Parker, lost control of his 2012 Dodge Caravan and crossed into the westbound lane of traffic, striking a 2016 Ford Escape operated by Gary P. Bowser, 53, Sligo.

Both drivers and their passengers were wearing seat belts. A 17-year-old female passenger in Shattuck's suffered a suspected minor injury.

Shattuck was cited for a traffic law violation.

Car hits tree

LIMESTONE TWP. Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports the driver of a 2005 Ford Taurus lost control of the car at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 19 along C-L School Road in Limestone Township and struck a tree. The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Kochara did not identify the driver of the car.

The Clarion-Limestone Volunteer Fire Department pulled the car from the situation.

Car hits sign

PAINT TWP. -- Tpr. Jesse Kochara reports the driver of a 2005 Hyundai Elantra lost control of the car on a snowy patch of roadway at 5:50 p.m. Jan. 16 along U.S. Route 322 in Paint Township and struck a road sign.

The driver contacted police and then moved the car from the scene believing it was a hazard to other vehicles.

The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Kochara did not identify the driver.
