Crash injures two Clarion women

WASHINGTON TWP. Tpr. Brandon Anderson of the state police barracks at DuBois reports two Clarion women suffered suspected serious injuries in a 6:28 p.m. Jan. 31 two-vehicle crash along westbound Interstate 80 in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Cassandra I. Smith, 25, Clarion, operating a 2011 Ford Taurus, allegedly passed a 2010 International Harvester ProStar truck operated by Hunter K. Hill, 25, Willoughby, Ohio.

Just after passing the truck, Smith allegedly swerved abruptly in an apparent attempt to re-enter the right lane.

The right side of Smith vehicle struck the left side of Hill's truck.

Smith's car then exited the roadway, traveled through the median for approximately 200 feet and overturned over a small tree.

The car then struck an embankment.

It is believed Smith and her passenger, Sarah L. Lowers, 28, Clarion, were not wearing seat belts. They had to be extricated from the crashed vehicle.

Both women were transported to Penn Highlands Hospital and then flown via medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of their injuries.

Hill and his passenger, Richard C. Johnson, 38, Cleveland, Ohio, were wearing seat belts and were not injured.

The investigation of the crash is ongoing.

Three security cameras stolen

REDBANK TWP. -- Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports someone stole three ZMODO wireless security cameras valued at $118 around 11:48 a.m. Jan. 14 from the porch of a Shannondale Road residence in Redbank Township.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact state police at 814-226-1710.

Drug possession

FARMINGTON TWP. Tpr. Michael J. Salusky III of the state police barracks at Marienville reports a 20-year-old Lickingville man faces various charges involving drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia Jan. 28 along Gregory Drive in Farmington Township.

State police were contacted by a known female who told police of a juvenile in medical distress due to ingesting illegal drugs.

Police allege the suspect sold the drugs to the juvenile.

A search warrant was executed at the suspect's home and various items of drug paraphernalia were seized.

The victims in the case are listed as two male juveniles, ages 13 and 15, of Leeper.

Public drunkenness

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Evan Cyphert reports a 41-year-old Graham, N.C., man faces charges of public drunkenness at 10 p.m. Feb. 1 outside the Clarion Mall in Monroe Township after he allegedly appeared highly inebriated and asked several people to buy him a drink.

The man was transported back to his nearby hotel room.

DUI alleged

UNION TWP. Tpr. Adam Bowser of the state barracks at DuBois reports Derek John Kirkpatrick, 30, Leeper, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:56 a.m. Dec. 20, 2019, along westbound Interstate 80 in Union Township, Clearfield County, after police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle along the roadway.

Couple charged

CLARION TWP. Tpr. David McBride reports a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both of Clarion, face charges of harassment at 1:23 p.m. Feb. 2 along Robinwood Drive in Clarion Township after they allegedly were involved in an altercation with each other.

Hit and run

BEAVER TWP. Tpr. Ethan Rowe reports David A. Brott, 57, Ranson, W.V., escaped injury at 10:13 a.m. Feb. 2 along eastbound Interstate 80 in Beaver Township when his 2013 Honda Civic was struck from behind by an unknown model of Ford vehicle.

The driver of the Ford did not stop.

Window broken at local business

CLARION TWP. Tpr. Jacob Beers reports someone threw an object and broke a window at T'N'T Treasure Chest sometime between Jan. 28 and Feb. 2 along U.S. Route 322 in Clarion Township. Damage is estimated $500. The investigation is ongoing.

Lawnmower stolen

KNOX TWP. Tpr. Dylan Jarrett reports an ongoing investigation of the theft of a John Deere lawnmower sometime between Jan. 17 and 29 along State Route 66 in Knox Township.

Pick-up rolls over

MADISON TWP. Tpr. David McBride reports Donald E. Wright, 59, Rimersburg, suffered suspected minor injuries at 8:12 p.m. Feb. 1 along McNaughton Road in Madison Township when he lost control of his 1998 Ford Ranger truck and crashed. The truck rolled over.

Wright was wearing a seat belt. He was cited for a traffic law violation.

Woman cited

NEW BETHLEHEM Tpr. Jacob Knight reports a 37-year-old New Bethlehem woman faces charges of harassment at 2:34 a.m. Feb. 1 along Hunter Way in New Bethlehem after she allegedly shoved and kicked a 19-year-old Kittanning man.

Retail theft

MONROE TWP. Tpr. Jacob Beers reports a 58-year-old Brookville woman faces charges of retail theft at 4:04 p.m. Feb. 3 at Walmart in Monroe Township after she allegedly attempted to take merchandise (pet supplies) valued at $114 from the store. The investigation is ongoing.
