Maintain your weight from Nov. 25 through Jan. 6, 2020 with the No Gain Campaign Challenge at the YMCA. This six-week challenge will help you maintain weight over the holidays.
Weigh-in is at 7 p.m. on Nov. 25. Group meeting will follow with weigh-ins to discuss healthy eating and training tips to support participants over the holidays.
Final weigh-in and group discussion is at 7 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2020. Participants can earn a prize for maintaining their weight over the holidays.
Start living healthier with education and motivation from YMCA wellness staff.
Cost for this program is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.
Family movie night
Enjoy a movie night with your family at the YMCA on Friday, Dec. 6.
"The Grinch" will be showing in the multipurpose room and popcorn will be provided. Participants can bring a blanket, pillow or a lawn chair.
The movie night is free for YMCA members and $15 per family for non-members.
YMCA Christmas cookie exchange
The YMCA will host a Christmas Cookie Exchange from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.
YMCA members participating in the cookie exchange are asked to bring three dozen of the same type of cookie. All participants will go home with three dozen of a variety of cookies.
Refreshments and door prizes will be available at this event. Members should register at the front desk of the Y by Dec. 13.
Home for the holidays
Drop your child off with YMCA staff for three hours of organized pool time, gym activities, and crafts from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 23, 26, 27 and 30. This program is for children ages 5 to 10 years old.
Children will learn about the importance of exercise, healthy eating, screen time, and more during the program. Registration deadline is Dec. 17 at the YMCA.
Cost of program is $10 for members and $20 for non-members (price includes all four days).
CPR and first aid class
The YMCA offers certification in adult, infant and child CPR, AED and first aid. Classes are held from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 2 or Jan. 6, 2020.
Classes are taught by Dr. Amy Shannonhouse. The cost is $30 and the classes are open to the public.
Cardio aqua class
A cardio aqua class will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays at the YMCA.
This high energy cardio class focuses on stretching, toning, muscle strengthening, and cardiovascular exercises while using water resistance and equipment.
The class is easily modified for various levels and offers a fun atmosphere.
The monthly cost for this class is free for YMCA members; $40 for non-members; and $7 drop in fee per class for non-members.
The Clarion County YMCA is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. The Clarion County YMCA is located at 499 Mayfield Road in Clarion.
