Clarion MMA athletes win tough competitions
Clarion Area High School Social Studies teacher and Clarion MMA takedown coach Rob Sintobin (above, second from left) competed Aug. 22 through 25 at the World Masters Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Las Vegas. Sintobin competed in the open weight division and swept first-place after forcing all of his opponents to submit in their respective matches.
Private music teacher and Clarion MMA co-owner Hillary LeFay (right) of Clarion competed Aug. 25 in the Gracie Worlds Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Anaheim, Calif. LeFay took first place in her division, grappling for nearly 15 consecutive minutes in one particular match to beat her component. This is LeFays first year back on the tournament mats since taking a three-year hiatus from competitive grappling.
