Bluegrass festival set for Sept. 14

SHIPPENVILLE A bluegrass festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Clarion County Park, one mile north of Interstate 80 at exit 60.

The festival will feature the pickin' and vocal talents of Gravel Lick, The Keister Family Bluegrass Band, Keep off the Grass, the Byson Band, Glympse Above, Bill Burnworth, Tom Scherf, and a special appearance by guitarist, Jeremy Earnheardt.

Bands will begin at noon. During the event, several items will be raffled, including a guitar, mandolin, violin, and an autoharp.

In addition a 50/50 raffle, rip off tickets, basket raffles and a Chinese auction will span the day.

Refreshments will be available on the premises through lunch and dinner.The public is invited and encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

The festival will be held indoors in the recreation building at the park in the case of inclement weather.Proceeds from the day will benefit the all-inclusive playground project at the County Park.

The playground project is a collaborative effort of the Clarion County Developmental Disabilities Administration and its many county stakeholders to provide adaptive playground equipment to the park.

Playground equipment designed for access by children of all abilities, a sensory play area, and shaded areas are planned to set on a 120 feet by 80 feet fall-safe, wheelchair-friendly surface.The project was designed by Jeffrey Associates.
