uLast Friday, June 15, the corner stone of the White Memorial Public School was formally laid in accordance with Masonic rites and ceremonies. The Right Worshipful Grand Master John S. Sell and other Grand officers of the state officiated. The Edinburg Lodge. No. 550, F&AM were in charge of the event. Over 200 members of the craft were present.
uLast Monday a delegation of about 150 business men from New Bethlehem and Hawthorn boroughs and Redbank Township came to Clarion to consult with the Clarion Commissioners regarding the c0onstruction of an overhead bridge over the Low Grade railroad at Fish Basket hill. The state has demanded that the overhead bridge be built at a cost of $40,000 to the county.
uClarion nipped Brookville last week in a fine game of ball, one of the best ever played here. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning when Carroll pasted a three-bagger and scored Harris. Gallia limited Brookville to just six hits in the game.
uA recital will be given on the Keatley memorial organ in the First Methodist Church in Clarion. John Bell, the organist at the First Presbyterian Church for 38 years, will be the artist of the evening.
