Backyard conservation workshop

CLARION Clarion Conservation District (CCD) is hosting a workshop focused on conservation practices the community can implement in their own backyard.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 at the Clarion Conservation District office located at 249 S. Second Ave. in Clarion.

Registration is free and will include refreshments. The workshop will be held outdoors and social distancing should be observed.

CCD was awarded a mini-grant through the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts (PACD) to host this workshop.

Attendees will learn about various practices they may implement on their own property that will help conserve natural resources. Topics to be covered include rain gardens, composting, rain barrels, no-till gardening, and more. Participants will be able to take a rain barrel home with them.

Financial and other support for the NPS mini-grant program is provided by PACD through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Thirty-five projects will be funded in 31 of the state's counties. Projects include stream workshops, agricultural field days, forestry workshops, homeowner workshops, and more.
