McGunigle speaks at DAR meeting

Regent Joan Krieble (left) and Ray McGunigle, from the American Legion 66 Craig E. Fleming Post, are holding poppies in honor of the war poem, In Flanders Fields which was topic of the last Daughters of American Revolution meeting. McGunigle was the featured speaker atthe NovemberClarion County DAR meeting. He spoke about the background of one of the most memorable war poems ever written, In Flanders Fields. Written by Canadian army doctor, Lieutenant John McCrae, the poem memorializes the April 1915 battle in Belgium’s Ypres salient andled to the adoption of the poppy as the flower of remembrance.
