CLARION The American Legion Riders is a non-profit organization whose mission is to give back to those veterans and their families who need a helping hand and to just say "thank you" for their service to our country.

The chapter is associated with the Craig E. Fleming American Legion Post 66 in Clarion. They currently have 22 members who are mostly veterans of various branches of the service.

The balance of their membership is made up of American Legion Auxiliary members and Sons of the American Legion.

The members have a common love for riding motorcycles and each year they try to ride for as many organizations as they can that also give freely of their time and good fortune to help others.

They take pride in participating in escorting the Moving Wall, standing guard during the Memorial Day service in Clarion, escorting the veterans to the Camo Cares event and escorts for the multiple sclerosis event in Cook Forest.

They also enjoy distributing gifts at Christmas time to those at the Butler VA and to veterans in the homes in Clarion County.

Each year the chapter hosts a reverse drawing where one lucky ticket holder will win the ultimate Harley Davidson motorcycle from the DuBois Harley Shop.

Due to the success of their previous seven events, they are proud to have given approximately $75,000 to veterans and their families in this area and surrounding communities and to other organizations and events that are connected to veterans in some way.

Their members are preparing for the eighth annual Harley Davidson giveaway event on Sept. 8 and all proceeds are ear-marked for veterans and their families.

There are only 325 tickets being sold for this event and are available now through any one of the American Legion Riders. New members are always welcome.
