Clarion Shelter Task Force conducts homelessness survey

Soup luncheon Jan. 22

CLARION The Clarion County Shelter Task Force will hold a soup luncheon fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 in the basement conference room at the Human Services Building at 214 South Seventh Avenue in Clarion.

The luncheon coincides with the Point in Time Count which is a statewide single night count of the homeless.

The luncheon will consist of soups, salad, desserts, drinks and more.

The cost for the luncheon is donation only. All donations received will benefit homeless and at-risk individuals in Clarion County.

Take-out and delivery is available to the public. To place to go orders, email no later than Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Formally known as the "Point-In-Time Survey of the Unsheltered Homeless," the count seeks to identify the number of homeless individuals across the state between the evening hours of Jan. 22 and the morning hours of Jan. 23.

Anyone who is homeless, or anyone who knows someone who is homeless, is encouraged to call the task force and give information about the situation and receive advice on how they can receive help.

This count encompasses individuals living on the street, in vehicles, parks, tents, campers, in the woods and more.

If you come across a homeless individual, please contact Center for Community Resources (CCR) at 226-1080 and they can assist the individual.
