Area senior center activities

KNOX Activities and menus for the month of September for the Knox, Leeper and New Bethlehem Senior Centers have been set and are listed below.

Meal reservations for the Knox and Leeper centers should be made a day in advance by calling 221-7869 or 226-4640. Lunch for the New Bethlehem center should be made by Friday morning by calling 221-7869 or 226-4640.

lKnox Senior Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays in the Knox fire hall. There menu and schedule is:

Sept. 10: 10 a.m., social hour; 11 a.m., WRC checks blood pressure and presents a health topic to be announced. Lunch is chicken parmesan with marinara sauce and cheese topping, pasta with sauce, tossed salad with dressing, Italian bread and apple juice.

Sept. 17: 11 a.m., Clarview Rehabilitation leads exercise; 11:30 a.m., Country Springs leads Jingo. Lunch is breaded turkey chef salad, tossed salad with cucumbers and dressing, pasta salad, dinner roll and pineapple.

Sept. 24: 10:45 a.m., Visiting Nurses Association checks blood pressure; 11 a.m., Bingo. Lunch is roasted pork with gravy, sauerkraut, whipped potatoes, white bread and applesauce cake.

lLeeper Senior Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and is located in the Farmington fire hall in Leeper. There activities and menu for September are:

Sept. 11: Card; 9:30-10:30 a.m., Visiting Nurses Association checks blood pressures; 11 a.m., chocolate milkshake day. Lunch is roasted pork with Dijon mustard sauce, vegetable rice pilaf, green beans, wheat bread.

Sept. 18: Cards; 11 a.m., "Funky Hair Do" day pictures of hairstyles over the years. Lunch is baked breaded chicken cutlet, au gratin potatoes, carrots, white bread and fruited gelatin.

Sept. 25: Cards; 11 a.m., WRC visits; birthday celebration. Lunch is seafood salad, mixed greens with tomato, egg and dressing, vegetable soup with crackers, dinner roll, cottage cheese and pineapple.

lNew Bethlehem Senior Center is open from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Mondays and is located in the Redbank Valley Community Center. Their activities and menus for September are:

Sept. 5: 4:30 p.m., meal time; 5:30 p.m., Bingo and speaker.

Sept. 9: 10 a.m., nickel bingo; 11 a.m., Clarview Rehabilitation leads exercise; 11:30 a.m., Country Springs plays Jingo. Lunch is sweet sausage sandwich with peppers and sauce, cheesy hash browns, sausage roll and fresh fruit.

Sept. 13: Shopping and lunch at Long John Silvers and A&W.

Sept. 16: 10 a.m., nickel Bingo; 11 a.m., hangman. Lunch is rotisserie chicken and gravy, whipped potatoes with chives, mixed vegetables, biscuit and peaches.

Sept. 23: 10 a.m., nickel bingo; 11 a.m., Sharon from Edgewood Heights visits. Lunch is baked meatloaf with gravy, baked potato with margarine and sour cream, wax beans, wheat bread and fresh fruit.

Sept. 30: 10 a.m., nickel Bingo and more Bingo. Lunch is roasted sliced turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, wheat bread and cookie.
