CLARION - The number of new COVID-19 cases reported in zip codes serving Clarion County dropped substantially during the week of Dec. 29-Jan. 4, ending that time frame with 67 new cases.

(Editor's note: The state Department of Health warned the public this week reported numbers for new COVID cases might be lower than usual due to a computer problem.)

The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported in zip codes serving Clarion County the previous week (Dec. 22-28) was 203.

For the third consecutive week, the Marienville zip code topped the area with 36 new cases reported. That number is down from 64 the previous week.

The Marienville zip code includes the state correctional facility located there.

As of Jan. 4, the state prison reported having 14 "active" COVID-19 cases among inmates and another six "active" cases among staff members.

Those numbers are down slightly from last week when the state prison reported having 15 "active" COVID-19 cases among inmates and another eight "active" cases among staff members.

Approximately 170 new positive COVID-19 tests were reported from Clarion County during the Dec. 29 through Jan. 4 period, down about 27 from the 203 new cases reported a week ago.

According to data collected from several sources and compiled at the website "Main Line Mama," an independent data complier, the New Bethlehem and Clarion zip codes again remained the highest "hot spots" in the county.

New Bethlehem: 18 positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was 17.

Clarion: 17 positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was 14.

Templeton: 13 positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was eight.

East Brady: 12 positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was three.

Emlenton: seven positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was eight.

Shippenville: seven positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was eight.

Limestone: six positive case in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was zero.

Lucinda: five positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was six.

Leeper: five positive case in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was three.

Rimersburg: five positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was 11.

Sigel: four positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was seven.

Strattanville: four positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was six.

Parker: four positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was five.

Corsica: four positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was two.

Summerville: three positive cases in the Dec. 29 to Jan. 4 period. Last week's count was six.

Post offices not listed did not record any positive tests between Dec. 21 and 28.

A-C Valley

As of Dec. 28, the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District had a COVID test positive rate of 38.46 percent with an incident rate per 100,000 residents of 147.84.

Among Clarion County's seven school districts, A-C Valley's positivity rate ranked sixth and its incident per 100,000 ranked seventh.

The Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District includes addresses from the Emlenton, Foxburg, Hilliards, Parker, Knox and Kennerdell zip codes.

The school district also draws its students from four counties Clarion, Butler, Armstrong and Venango.

Clarion Area

As of Jan. 4, the Clarion Area School District had a COVID test positive rate of 42.52 percent with an incident rate per 100,000 residents of 229.95.

Among Clarion County's seven school districts, Clarion Area's positivity rate ranked third-highest and its incident per 100,000 ranked third-highest.

The Clarion Area School District includes mailing addresses from the Clarion, Lucinda, New Bethlehem, Rimersburg, Shippenville and Sligo zip codes.

Clarion-Limestone

As of Jan. 4, the Clarion-Limestone School District had a COVID test positive rate of 61.15 percent with an incident rate per 100,000 residents of 255.78.

Among Clarion County's seven school districts, C-L's positivity rate ranked highest and its incident per 100,000 ranked second-highest.

The Clarion-Limestone School District includes mailing addresses from the Brookville, Corsica, Sigel, Summerville, Clarion, Fairmount City, New Bethlehem, Strattanville, Leeper and Mayport zip codes.

C-L also draws its student from two counties Clarion and Jefferson.

Keystone

As of Jan. 4, the Keystone School District had a COVID test positive rate of 24.07 percent with an incident rate per 100,000 residents of 149.92.

Among Clarion County's seven school districts, Keystone's positivity rate ranked lowest and its incident per 100,000 ranked sixth-highest.

The Keystone School District includes addresses from the Parker, Callensburg, Knox, Emlenton, Kossuth, Shippenville, Sligo, Cranberry and Marble zip codes.

North Clarion

As of Jan. 4, the North Clarion School District had a COVID test positive rate of 41.18 percent with an incident rate per 100,000 residents of 207.08.

Among Clarion County's seven school districts, North Clarion's positivity rate ranked fourth-highest and its incident per 100,000 ranked fourth-highest.

The North Clarion School District includes mailing addresses from the Clarion, Leeper, Lucinda, Shippenville, Vowinckel, Fryburg, Lickingville, Tionesta, Venus and Marble zip codes.

Redbank Valley

As of Jan. 4, the Redbank Valley School District had a COVID test positive rate of 53.33 percent with an incident rate per 100,000 residents of 265.69.

Among Clarion County's seven school districts, Redbank Valley's positivity rate ranked second-highest and its incident per 100,000 ranked highest.

The Redbank Valley School District includes mailing addresses from the Summerville, Dayton, Fairmount City, Mayport, New Bethlehem, Sligo, Rimersburg, Templeton and Seminole zip codes.

Redbank Valley also draws its students from two counties Clarion and Armstrong.

Union

As of Jan. 4, the Union School District had a COVID test positive rate of 37.84 percent with an incident rate per 100,000 residents of 161.80.

Among Clarion County School Districts, Union's positivity rate ranked fifth-highest and its incident per 100,000 ranked fifth-highest.

The Union School District includes mailing addresses from the Parker, Clarion, Rimersburg and Sligo zip codes.
