PAINT TWP. - Differentiating between vacation time and sick time for workers is a challenge to keep track for anyone in payroll so the Paint Township supervisors decided to alter the way the township handles the issue at its meeting Jan. 3.

CLARION TWP. - Benjamin Franklin famously said, "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn" and it was this mindset apparent among the Clarion-Limestone administration during their Jan. 18 board meeting.

CLARION - The Clarion County Board of Commissioners held a re-organizational meeting Jan. 3 and set the dates for meetings in 2023.

SHIPPENVILLE - Famed poet Robert Frost penned the classic poem "Mending Wall" and the underlying theme of said poem was "good fences make good neighbors" and it seems the Shippenville borough council can understand what Frost was referring to.

KNOX - The Keystone School Board Jan. 16 approved actions moving forward the starting date for incoming superintendent Michael Hall and defining the position of "assistant to the superintendent."

ELK TWP. - The Elk Township Board of Supervisors will be chaired by supervisor Dave Polatty in 2023 as the township held its state-mandated annual reorganization meeting Jan. 3.

CLARION TWP. - Clarion Township will appeal the 2020 census results and the township's board of supervisors made very plain what is at stake at the board's reorganization meeting Jan. 3.

CLARION - The Clarion County Retirement Board met Dec. 27 and adopted several measures to administer the county's fund.

KOSSUTH - Ashland Township supervisors agreed Jan. 3 to purchase a new computer for township management and new tires for the township's Ford F-550 truck.

FRILLS CORNERS - Youth football was once a burgeoning program in the northern portion of Clarion County but over time the program faded and ultimately ceased its existence but Matt Fair wants to change that.

KNOX - Traffic law enforcement in Knox Borough will soon get a little easier and faster for borough police.

BUTLER - Officials at Excela Health (EH) and Butler Health System (BHS) announced Jan. 3 they have finalized the joining of the two organizations, creating a new health system serving Western Pennsylvania.

CLARION - The Clarion County Board of Commissioners met and unanimously adopted the amended 2023 county budget at its regular meeting Dec. 27.

PAINT TWP. - One of the greatest rewards for an educator is for students to put learned concepts into practice and such an occurrence happened for Clarion County Career Center Director Traci Wildeson earlier this winter.

PAINT TWP. - The Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Fire Department is at a crossroads when it comes to having safe and effective firefighting gear and the organization came to the Paint Township Supervisor Board in search of help and the board is amenable to offering help.

KNOX - Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Acting Secretary Neil Weaver visited Modern Living Solutions' facility in Clarion County.

CLARION - The FCC, as part of the development of new broadband maps, has requested that the public submit necessary challenges to pre-production draft maps, which are now available on the FCC website.

FOXBURG - Normally a caboose is located at the back of something but the caboose located in Foxburg Borough is right at the front of an issue.

CLARION - The Clarion County Planning Commission approved four developments including the plan for the Speyside Bourbon Stave Mill in Clarion Township at its Dec. 14 meeting.

CLARION - Four Clarion County properties were destroyed by fire over the holiday weekend, according to Clarion County 911, and one firefighter battling one of those blazes suffered from a medical episode at the scene of the fire, according to Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department.

STRATTANVILLE - Strattanville Borough Council and Municipal Authority both unanimously passed balanced budgets for 2023 at their respective meetings Dec. 14.

FOXBURG - The Foxburg Borough Council would like for there to be a regular police presence in the borough, they just aren't too keen on the rate they were quoted by the Emlenton Borough Police.

CLARION - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) held a virtual plans display Dec. 19 regarding the bridge preservation project of the existing structure carrying U.S. Route 322 over the Clarion River in Clarion and Paint Townships, Clarion County.

CLARION - The Clarion County Commissioners awarded Liquid Fuels grants to five municipalities at their Dec. 13 meeting.

ELK TWP. - Clarion County Judge Sara Seidle-Patton will hear the case for Elk Township's next supervisor during a 9 a.m. hearing today (Dec. 20) in Courtroom One.

MONROE TWP. - The Monroe Township Supervisors passed its final 2023 budget with no tax increase at the supervisors' regular meeting Dec. 13.

CLARION - The Wreaths Across America event is happening nationwide on Dec. 17 with services to be held throughout Clarion County.

CLARION - According to Clarion Area Superintendent Dr. Joe Carrico, the expansion of the sports cooperative agreements between Clarion and Clarion-Limestone is progressing nicely.

CLARION - The Clarion Borough Council adopted a preliminary budget and for the eighth straight year, there will no tax increase.
