Clarion state police said two people died in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 28 and Shannondale Road in Redbank Township on Friday evening.
According to police, the vehicles were traveling north on Route 28 at about 9 p.m. when one of the vehicles attempted to make a left turn onto Shannondale Road.
Police said the other vehicle involved in the accident, which was attempting to pass another vehicle, struck the vehicle attempting to make the turn.
Police said the driver and passenger in the vehicle that was struck were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker told the newspaper on Saturday morning that the names of the deceased victims are being withheld until family members are notified.
Clarion County 911 told the newspaper that fire departments from Hawthorne, New Bethlehem and Summerville; ambulance services from Summerville and Clarion Hospital; and Stat MedEvac also responded.
Route 28 was reopened at about 2:45 a.m., according to 911.
