Knox will host a suicide awareness and prevention seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. March 19 at the fire hall.

Knox Borough Council announced the event at its March 4 meeting.

The Clarion County Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Center for Community Resources, Knox Borough Police Department and the Clarion Psychiatric Center are sponsoring the event.

Mental health providers from Clarion County are hoping to reach out, support and educate about the signs of suicide and where to turn for help in a crisis situation.

The presentation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with mental health provider tables open for information and questions a half hour before and after the presentation.

Horsethief update

Horsethief dates have been set for the weekend of Aug. 10-11, and Aug. 13 through Aug. 17.

The tentative date for Church on Main Street is Aug. 11. Two out of five churches have agreed but the ministry would like to include more.

Festival shirts have been chosen and are ready to be ordered. This year the shirts will be a burnt orange color with a pocket advertisement for Horsethief and sponsors listed on the back.

The car cruise shirts will have the major sponsors listed.

The Cornhole tournament will have two more winners this year due to its popularity. In addition to first- through third-placing, fourth-place will receive $40 and fifth-place will receive their entry fee.

Clean-Up Day

The Knox Borough Clean-Up Day will be held April 12.

Appliance pick up will need to be scheduled with Jay Hunsberger at (814) 221-1488. All other trash must be at the curb by 6 a.m. Piles should be no larger than 4 feet by 10 feet. Televisions, computer monitors and concrete will not be accepted.

New water system generators

Council further discussed its interest in purchasing generators for the water treatment plant and wells.

A 2016 quote from Wagner Electric outlined the potential cost of generators; however, Wagner Electric confirmed the pricing would be increased from the quote three years ago.

To get a better grasp on actual numbers, the council decided to make a motion then approved to go out to bid for generators and request two quotes be submitted. One quote is to be submitted for just the water plant and well seven. A second quote is to be submitted for all three wells.
