Vets enjoy picnic

Bob MacKinlay (left) of Rimersburg, and Albert Ziegler of Marble, were two the hundreds of veterans and their families who enjoyed the annual Clarion County Veterans Picnic at the county park. MacKinlay is an army veteran who served in Vietnam in 1969. Ziegler is an army veteran who served at Camp Casey just as the Korean War ended in 1953. The Clarion County Veterans Affairs office, under the direction of Judy Zerbe hosts the picnic. The Clarion VFW and Burns Funeral Home helped with food.

BUTLER Butler Health System, which includes Clarion Hospital, and Westmoreland County-based Excela Health announced they have entered into a definitive agreement to combine the two organizations into a new health system.

KNOX -- Following a similar donation to the Knox Ambulance Company last month, Knox Borough Council again tapped its American Rescue Plan grant fund to donate $20,000 to the Knox Volunteer Fire Department.

STRATTANVILLE -- A Strattanville couple voiced their concerns to borough council this month over the way they believe they were portrayed in a neighbor's complaint in September.

KNOX -- Knox Borough Council Nov. 7 gave its preliminary approval to a $1,189,119 general fund budget for 2023 and leaving taxes at their current levels. Final adoption of the spending plan is expected in December.
