PITTSBURGH - Passavant Memorial Homes Family of Services (PMHFOS) released its 2020 impact report, "Safeguarding those we Serve and Supporting our Community Amid the Pandemic."

The report highlights the many proactive and preventative approaches implemented to protect the health and safety of individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and behavioral health needs and the entire PMHFOS community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PMHFOS utilized a data-driven and evidence-based approach in its response to the pandemic, while ensuring adherence to all regulatory guidelines.

In collaboration with Horizon Information Systems, Inc., the non-profit organization also developed a suite of custom secure web-based tools to safely capture data across disperse geographic locations, allowing for immediate action ability and insights.

Other innovative approaches included proactive contact tracing and testing protocols to limit potential contact exposure to the more than 350 individuals PMHFOS is privileged to serve who reside in community residential homes, along with PMFHOS's dedicated and caring personnel.

Virtual technology played a key role in several of PMHFOS's creative experiences including, but not limited to, support groups, bingo, a physical exercise program, and other unique activities to encourage safe connectivity and support during the pandemic.

The report also importantly describes the many frontline staff recognition initiatives implemented, totaling more than $2.9 million of additional investment by PMHFOS, to honor and recognize frontline staff for their dedication and vital role in providing essential supports during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the individuals that PMFHOS is privileged to serve, as well as PMHFOS personnel, have had the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, PMHFOS remains committed in the pursuit of its core mission to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and behavioral health needs to live successfully in the community.
