CLARION — Families interested in providing a temporary home for a child in need should contact Clarion County Children and Youth Services.

The law requires foster homes in every district. However, CYS is in urgent need of qualified foster parents for Union school district.

Foster parents may be single or married, and may provide full-time or weekend care for children.

Those wanting to become foster parents must be at least 21 years of age, pass a medical exam, pass a home inspection and have their clearances. Training and foster home studies, which need to be completed as part of the orientation process, are required.

Foster parents who work 20 hours or more per week may qualify for subsidized daycare.

For more information, contact the Clarion office by calling 226-9280 or call toll-free 1-800-577-9280. Ask for the foster care coordinator. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
