Antonio Que

SHIPPENVILLE – Dr. Antonio Que formerly of Shippenville passed away on January 25, 2023, in Lakeland Fla. at the age of 90 surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on July 28, 1932, in the Philippines of Chinese descent.

He leaves behind his loving wife Wilma Que; his daughters Louise Jarvis and Sonja Hill; his son Fabian Hendricks; and son-in-law’s Darius Hill and Dr. Dennis Jarvis.

He was a kind and supportive father and adored his grandchildren, Caitlyn Meerabux, Lilygrace Hill, Luke Hill, Jacob, Emilina, Dominic, Damian, Peter and Paul Jarvis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Lawrence.

He was a distinguished professor of accounting at Clarion University from 1985 to 2002, at the Diana S. Still Hall of Business Administration.

Upon his retirement in 2002 he and his beloved wife Wilma moved to Lakeland Fla. He was loved and admired by many to include his colleagues and students. He took pride in his work and his students and assisted them to reach their maximum potential. As one student stated, “he always encouraged his students to participate and interact in class and motivates them to work to their full potential” and “that he gives a good foundation for a career in accounting with the necessary fundamentals he teaches.”

Dr. Que was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Accountants receiving his Certified Public Accountant degree from the Virginia State Board of Accountancy. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from University of East (Philippines) and Master of Business Administration from New York University (Graduate School of Business Administration) as well as his Doctorate of Philosophy from New York University.

Dr. Que played an active role in research and publications while employed at Clarion University and after retirement. Dr. Que was well respected and dignified and known for his research and dedication to his work and students.

He was devoted to his wife Wilma for 40 years. They shared many wonderful years together. He was an avid walker with his loyal companion Gizmo. Dr. Que not only had a wealth of knowledge he was also loving, caring, and kind. Being a survivor of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II, he embraced everyone he encountered.

Dr. Que received numerous recognitions to include his support for military personnel and equality between all races of humanity. He did not allow his circumstances to dictate his accomplishments.

He will be deeply missed and remembered by his loved ones and all who met him. In honor of Dr. Que, a memorial service will be held in Lakeland, Fla.

The family has asked in place of flowers that a donation be made to the Clarion University Alumni Association.
