God, government and society
By Rick Webb
Government, especially a Socialist, Marxist, Monarchial government, has the power to imprison and persecute.
George Washington said: "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force. Like fire it is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master."
Even when government is supposed to be our servant it is dangerous, and when it becomes a master, it truly is fearsome.
The Bible doesn't teach us to obey an evil, tyrannical government, but a good government instituted by God. We are to respect the positions of these government offices and the people representing them as long as it is according to God's word, but not the evil within it, whether it would be the person or the policy, or both.
Power tends to increase more power and an evil or bad controlling spirit is a bad influence.
Again, George Washington warned us about this type of spirit in a man in government.
The people of this country have lost the knowledge that the country they are privileged to live in has been blessed by the one and only almighty God. Maybe it is more accurate to say that they've never been taught this. We are not giving God the honor He deserves. Oh, we sing a song and wave a flag, and say God bless America, but in reality, we do nothing to defend right, while allowing unrighteous, unjust, and outright ungodly things to go on and be passed as law.
We even go along with government dictates supposedly for our good, when in reality it has nothing to do with our good, and is nothing but more control and aggression. It is the government's job to defend the Constitution of this country, not to take care of our health and tell us how to live.
Daniel Webster said God grants liberty only to those who love it and are always ready to defend it.
It seems so-called Christians today are only interested in pleasure, entertainment, and the study of prophesy while what the Bible talks about is unfolding right in front of them. The real tragedy is that they are not prepared spiritually for battle. They don't understand that these smaller, seemingly incidental attacks are important and part of the evil that God warned about. They are willing to give their livelihood over to others with no regard to what someone may do with it as long as they "feel safe" and they can have fun.
Have we forgotten about our Constitution and Bill of Rights? We need to remember another statement by Thomas Jefferson: "In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."
God is the source of liberty, not the Constitution. Do you understand that? Man did not originate the idea of freedom, liberty, and justice, God did!
Preachers need to preach that precept of God as well as all the rest. This country has embraced that truth from its conception, and it has been documented in "The Constitution of The United States."
This is ultimately a spiritual battle, and even though there may be those that don't believe in God, they do believe very much in liberty and freedom; a perfect example of what our founders intended; freedom and liberty for all.
