WEST FREEDOM Forest Area's Faith Dietrich had three hits including a home run and a double and had an RBI to help the fifth-seeded Fires to a 7-0 win over fourth seed A-C Valley/Union in the District 9 Class A quarterfinals at David Wetzel Memorial Park in West Freedom May 22.
Izzy Flick silenced the Falcon Knight bats as she tossed a one-hit shutout walking three and striking out seven.
Flick had three hits including a double on offense while Forest Area's Anna Stitt had a single and two RBIs. Brooke Felleti and Alexa Carll each had two hits for the Fires with Felleti legging out a double.
Maddy Dehart had A-C Valley/Union's only hit.
District 9 Class A quarterfinal
Elk County Catholic 8, Redbank Valley 7
ST. MARYS Sixth seed Redbank Valley rallied for seven runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-7 lead but the Bulldogs couldn't hold on as third-seeded Elk County Catholic scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the District 9 Class A quarterfinal by a 9-8 score.
Bella Orr had four hits for Redbank Valley while Sami Bowser knocked in four runs. Alara Altobelli and Quinn White each had two hits.
District 9 Class 2A quarterfinals
Cranberry 17, Keystone 2 (four innings)
SENECA No. 3 seed Cranberry belted 17 hits including four home runs (two each from Kendall Finlay and Keelie Schneider) on the way to a 17-2, four-inning thrashing of No. 6 seed Keystone in the District 9 Class 2A quarterfinals May 22.
Leah Exley had a home run and two RBIs for the Panthers while Emma Gruber contributed a single.

Port Allegany 4, Clarion-Limestone 3
JOHNSONBURG Fourth-seeded Johnsonburg rallied from a 3-1 deficit by plating three runs in the bottom of the seventh to topple visiting fifth-seed Clarion-Limestone 4-3 in the District 9 Class 2A quarterfinals May 23 at Knothole Park in Johnsonburg.
Tommy Smith bashed a two-run home run to power the Lions' offense.
Logan Lutz followed with two singles and an RBI for C-L while Jack Craig also had two singles.
Smith got the no-decision on the mound as he tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings allowing five hits and four walks while striking out six.
