Even though it doesn't seem possible, we are entering the final weekend of the 2021 racing season.

Last weekend Latrobe Speedway ran a two-day event. Friday night the 410 Sprints were on hand and Sye Lynch picked up the feature win with AJ Flick finishing second. Finishing third was Jack Sodeman, Jr. with Carl Bowser in fourth and Michael Bauer riding home in fifth.

In 305 Sprint Car action Steven Kenawell, Jr. captured the checkers with Rob Felix, Greg Dobrosky, Jarrett Rosencrance and Ryan Lynn rounding out the top five.

After being on the racing card four times before this season the E-Mods put on a great show and picking up the win was Jonathan Taylor, Mike Petosky, Evan Taylor, Ed Vogel and Royce Stanley.

The Wingless Crate Sprint Cars were on hand as well and Gale Ruth, Jr. picked up the feature victory. Rod George finished second ahead of John Mollick, Nolan Groves and Zach Morrow.

The final race of the evening featured the 4-cylinders and picking up the win was Bob Pease. Dylan Burkett finished second with Brandon Myers third. Fourth went to Ben Lebanese with Brian Noel fifth.

On Saturday night the BRP Modified Tour was on hand and so was I. Brad Rapp and Mark Frankhouser led the field to the drop of the green flag for the 35-lap BRP Modified Tour event at Latrobe Speedway. Rapp was able to drag race Frankhouser entering turn one on the initial lap of the race and set sail into the lead over Frankhouser, Chad Brachmann and Rex King, Jr. The first caution of the event was for Steve Barr which grouped the field back together for a double file restart which put Rapp on the pole and King, Jr. outside the front row.

On the restart, Rapp once again took command of the race with King, Jr. close behind before the caution flew once again on lap thirteen as the current point leader going into the night's events, Chad Brachmann, came to a stop on the back stretch. Motor issues sent Brachmann to the pit area and did not return. Once again on the restart, Rapp led the field, but a quick caution on lap fourteen for Steve Slater slowed the field once again.

The restart on lap fifteen went single file as BRP rules go single file after the third caution of the race. Rapp once again go the jump and the lead going into turn one over Rex King, Jr. and as the laps clicked off the battled for the lead with King, Jr. finally able to get the lead away from Rapp on lap twenty-five. The caution flew three laps later on lap twenty-eight for Shawn Kozar whose car came to a stop.

The final restart of the race came on lap twenty-nine and King, Jr. held on to the top position with Rex King, Sr. able to work his way past Rapp for second on the restart. The final seven laps found King, Jr. in command with Rex King, Sr. second and Rapp third. This would be the way they crossed the line on the final lap and Rex King, Jr. picked up his fifth win of the season. Rex King, Sr. was second with Brad Rapp third, Dave Murdick fourth and Steve Barr fifth. Heat were won by Rick Regalski and Rex King, Jr.

Other feature winners were Chris Schneider in the Pro Stocks. Ryan Frazee won the Crate Late Model feature. In the Super Late Model feature Colton Flinner picked up the win over Jared Miley. History was made at Latrobe as Tiffani McElhose became the first female to win in the Stock Car division. In the 4-cylinder division Joey Koteles would capture the feature win over Anthony Monteparte. The last event on the track for 2021 was a 4- and 6-cylinder Enduro and picking up the checkers was Noah Swank.

Lernerville Speedway will host the final race weekend of the year with the running of the Steel City Stampede. On Thursday night there will only be hot lap sessions for all divisions. Then on Friday night starting at 7:30 p.m. the heat races will be run for all divisions. Then on Saturday, weather permitting the B-Mains and Features will be run starting at 4 p.m. If either Friday or Saturday are rained out, they will use Sunday as a raindate. The divisions to be run will be the 410 Sprint Cars, BRP Modified Tour Big Block Modifieds, ULMS Late Models , Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks, RUSH Wingless Sprint Cars, RUSH Crate Late Models, RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, E-Mods, Racesaver 305 Sprints, Mini Stocks and on Saturday when all racing is over they will hold a 100-lap Enduro event.
